Toolstation Western League First Division
Calne Town 1, Chard Town 1

HONOURS were even on a blustery day at Calne on Saturday with both goals coming in the first half, writes Mike Froom

Chard had the first scoring chance when Liam Cleal saw an effort well saved having been played in by Bradley Miles.

With the elements in their favour, Calne pushed on and went ahead on 21 minutes when Stuart Windsor fired past goalkeeper Jon Hill.

However, this spurred the visitors on and the equaliser came on 32 minutes when another good through ball from Miles found Alex Staffie, who guided the ball in.

As the first half came to a close, Calne had a shot blocked by Ollie Pearson, who had an outstanding game in defence.

The second half could not produce any further goals in spite of chances for both sides.

A free-kick some two minutes in saw a Max Westlake shot just over the bar and Chard had the ball in the net on 67 minutes but the ‘goal’ was disallowed.

Chard pushed for a late goal with a cross on 75 minutes but the scoring chance was not taken as spoils were shared.

The elements did not allow for a close passing game but Chard found their hosts playing some good football in spite of their present low position in the table.

Chard: Jonathan Hill, Ben Haines,Oliver Pearson, Jack Dicker, Kieran Bailey, Luke Jackson (James Boyland), Matthew Howell, Bradley Miles, Alexandru Staffie, Taoufik Ben-Salem, Liam Cleal (Max Westlake).
