FORTY-SIX members of the Cricket St Thomas Senior section entered a 4Ball Better Ball event on Monday.

The good weather produced some fine scores, mostly in the 40s.

Ron Sutherland and Jim Hewit collected 45 points to triumph.

Meanwhile, the Seniors match team entertained Axecliff in the first of two matches to be held in the week.

Holding a slight advantage after four games, a win at game five ensured a 4-2 victory for the Saints team.

Also on Monday, 52 members of the Ladies section braved some difficult conditions at Clevedon Golf Club.

Congratulations go to Kim Clarke, who swept the board by winning the Irlam Salver for the best player (with 38 stableford points), the Bridge Bowl (for 21-28 handicaps), and the Barlow Cup for the Saints team.

This was a great success for the rapidly-growing Ladies section.

The Senior match team then entertained Brean on Thursday, and claimed an emphatic win, 5½-½.

The Seniors completed their week on Friday, when 58 members entered a 4Ball Better Ball competition.

Despite the intermittent rain, there were several good scores, with Rod Stevens and Peter Spencer-Farr pipping Danny Dowell and John Chance by one shot.
