AN early weekend race saw Chard Road Runner Jeremy Taylor off to the Jurassic Coast Challenge.

He set off from Charmouth with an immediate climb up to Golden Cap.

Running through West Bay, Taylor’s knowledge of the coast path picked up a few more places.

Heading towards Weymouth, Taylor put in a last push, and rounding off the race heading into Portland, Jeremy crossed the line in 4:34:00 and fifth out of 258.

CHARD Road Runners headed off to the largest local Half Marathon at Yeovil.

With more than 1,300 runners, this fast road route attracts top runners from across the South West.

Heading to the front for CRRs were Daniel Cahill, Wayne Loveridge, Kenny Timson and Martin Holley, while towards Yeovil Park, James Ashby, Lee Brun, Mike Egan and Emma Male made a push to move up through the field.

The route took a turn uphill and Martin Holley and newbie James Ashby picked off more places.

Egan found the more level section to his liking, edging Male, James Musselwhite and Colin Boarder, ahead of Liz Smith, Mel Boarder and Miranda Coleberd.

Daniel Cahill crossed first for CRRs in a time of 01:18:49 (9/1,302), ahead of Wayne Loveridge in 1:20:39 (19) and Kenny Timson sprinting in for 1:24:14 (30).

Martin Holley was next in a PB of 1:28:14 (55), followed by James Ashby 1:36:10 (147), Lee Brun 1:40:40 (227) and Mike Egan 1:50:27 (420.

Emma Male, James Musselwhite and Colin Boarder were all in close contention over the last mile, with Male taking the lead and finishing in 1:56:43 (600), Musselwhite 1:57:10 (615) and Boarder 1:58:30 (659).

Rounding off the Road Runners team were Liz Smith (2:31:41), Mel Boarder (2:32:45) and Miranda Coleberd (2:42:41).
