CHARD will be looking for a hat-trick of wins over Welton Rovers this season, as they visit West Clewes tomorrow in the Toolstation Western League First Division (ko 3pm).
Sixth-placed Chard beat Welton 3-0 at Zembard Lane in August, and again at Chard, 2-1, in the Les Phillips Cup in October.
Yet Chard manager Paul Down could be without three key players for the Welton trip.
Centre-backs Andy Holmes (knee) and Kieran Bailey (hamstring), together with striker Steve Friend (aggravated hand injury), are likely to be missing.
In better news, Matt Howell – who came off at Oldlands with a calf knock – should be fit, as should Taoufik Ben Salem, who came off as a precaution.
Shaun Wells-Burr is also fit now and Max Westlake, after a long injury lay-off, had a few minutes last Saturday, and will step up his training this week.
Dave Duarte should be available as well.
Goalkeeper Jon Hill is still carrying a foot injury, so Stu Parris might well go to Welton as cover, Down was pleased with “a solid performance on a heavy pitch at Oldland”.
He added: “Jake Wolfe on his first Chard start did very well, being a good organiser.
“Luke Jackson excelled filling in at centre-back.
“In-form James Boyland was the match winner with a goal and an assist for Miles, and winning the penalty that Jackson converted.”
