CHARD Road Runners were out this Sunday as the year’s running season heads to a close.

The weekend saw Andrew Leeson, Stevie Potter, James Musselwhite and Emma Male head off for the Wellington Monument 10k.

This mainly road race heads out of Hemyock village to take on the huge task of the climb to circle the Wellington Monument.

Andrew Leeson was first off the line with Stevie Potter on his heels as the Hill started to test the legs and vocal ability of the fore-runners.

James Musselwhite was chasing out hard with Emma Male in hot pursuit.

At the turning point, Leeson had made great progress in the 300-strong field and looking towards a top 50 position, while Stevie was getting her breath back as the downhill finish allowed the pace to pick-up.

Musselwhite was pushing hard in the downhill section and giving Emma Male a target.

With the finish line approaching, Leeson gave the final push to cross the line in 42m 59s.

Potter headed home next in 48m 00s 50, pushing hard to the line saw Musselwhite sprinting across the line in 50m 21s, and next on the heels of Musselwhite was Emma Male 56m 28s.
