CHARD Town face another tough away encounter on Saturday, when they visit fourth-placed Hengrove Athletic in the First Division of the Toolstation Western League (ko 3pm).

Bristol side Hengrove, beaten only five times in 23 league games, have the best goal difference in the league of +39.

Early in September, Chard won the reverse fixture 2-0 with one of their best displays of the season.

So Chard will not only be looking to complete the 'double' but gain their first away win of the season.

Chard boss Paul Down described last Saturday's win over Keynsham Town as "our best and most satisfying result of the season so far".

He added: "We outplayed and outfought a very good side.

"We now travel to Hengrove in good heart looking to continue with the same work rate and commitment."

Chard reported no new injuries and they are hoping Luke Jackson (hamstring twinge) and Dave Durate (illness) may be available on Saturday.

Chard achieved what was probably their best result of the season last weekend, beating Keynsham Town 4-2 to knock them off their perch at the top of the table.

The hosts scored five minutes into the match, Keiran Bailey taking advantage of a goalmouth scramble following a corner to smash home.

Keynsham were playing attractive football and creating chances, but Chard extended their lead three minutes before the break.

Max Westlake sent in a deep corner and Taoufik Ben Salem roared in unmarked to head crisply into the net.

Keynsham attacked the Chard goal with increased ferocity after half time, eventually pulling one back on 54 minutes as Matt Curnock was allowed to penetrate the home defence and slide his shot past Jon Hill into the corner.

But the Robins responded in the best way – regaining their two-goal lead with a carbon copy of their second goal.

On 65 minutes, a corner from the boot of Westlake again found Ben Salem powering forward and executing a similar header for 3-1.

Chard were on song now, and added a fourth five minutes later when Andrew Holmes hooked the ball in.

Only four minutes after that, Keynsham had pulled another goal back, Ben Harris placing his shot past Hill.

The Robins, though, held on for a fully-deserved victory to continue their decent form at Zembard Lane this season.
