SHEPTON Beauchamp progressed in the league and Challenge Cup as a double from Ben Pitman and strikes from Dan Smith, Jamie Spurdle and Jon Spendlow gave them a 5-0 win at previously unbeaten Beaminster and put them top of the table.

The fixture should have been a Challenge Cup semi-final but the Dorset side fielded an ineligible player in the previous round.

Hayden Smith’s scored a 70th minute winner for South Petherton over Perry Street in the other Challenge Cup semi-final and in the Arthur Gage Cup Drimpton (Barry Hayne, George Tuck, Craig Lodge 2 and Corry Hawkins) beat Beaminster (Dan Pyett, og) 5-2, Hawkchurch (Rob Down 2, Jamie Harris, Jon Turner) won 4-2 at Ilminster Colts (Jordan Turner and Wayne Lewis) and Waytown Hounds beat Crewkerne Rangers 4-0 with goals from Nat Bowditch 2, Garry Goodall and Joe Carter.

In the other tie Misterton won 4-2 at Pymore. Shane Webbs and Matthew Tither scored for the home side but a Scott Jennings penalty and an own goal, added to David Jones and Grant Symes’ efforts were enough.

South Petherton Res beat Merriott Dynamos 3-1 in the Tommy Tabberer Cup with goals from Jimmy Rees, Ryan Thurgood and Kameron Andrews with Luke Culver netting for the home side and in the Kenny Hodges Cup Farway United’s Jack Murrell netted a hat-trick which was outdone by Perry Street Res’ Owen Richardson 2, Kev Rowson, Dale Hutter and Luke Morgan in a 5-3 win.

Halstock also scored five where Mark Whitmarsh netted a hat-trick against Fivehead. Mark Cawley’s double, following his transfer from West and Middle Chinnock takes him to 259 career goals in 24 years.

In the Reg Eglon Cup quarter-final Crewkerne Rangers Res beat Ilminster Town A 6-1 with goals from Aaron Gray 3, Kris Durrant, Lewis England and Macauley England.

Combe B have a final berth at Easter as Matt Corrick scored all four in a 4-0 win at Thorncombe Reserves.

In the Daisy Hutchings Cup Merriott Rovers won 7-1 at Shepton Beauchamp Res (Jordan Brain) thanks to Mark Tweedie 2, Rob Stubbins, Ash Cooper, Dan Rudge, Luke Gosney and Jack Steer.

Phil Hussey, Lee Quincey, Mark Cuff and Richard Pincombe all netted for Netherbury in a 4-2 win at Chard United who mustered replies from Jamie Brown and Lee Hames while an Alex Thompson goal was enough for Forton Rangers to win at Crewkerne Town.

West and Middle Chinnock lost 3-2 at Winsham United. Warren Gabbidon’s double and an Ian Hilton penalty were enough as Chinnock scored through Damian Hart and Tom Charles.

In Division One Combe A beat Thorncombe 5-1 with Nathan Loader and Jake Board backing up Stuart Packer’s hat-trick. John Mason netted for Thorncombe.

Barrington Res beat Uplyme 3-2, thanks to a Gethyn Jenkins’ hat-trick and in Division Two Nigel Jeffreys’ double gave Kingsbury a 2-0 win at Chard Rangers while in Division Three Netherbury Res won 5-2 at Chard Utd AS (Ian Wells-Burr and Sam Ridley-Brown), with doubles from Ryan Kingston and Wes Fursman and one from Alex Goodrick.

Ben Dickinson scored Drimpton Res’ winner at Charmouth and George Hayward smashed a double-hat-trick as Dowlish and Donyatt hammered Uplyme Res 9-0. Luke Dopson (2) and Kieran Rendall also scored.
