In Division Two of the Somerset Cricket League Ilton are off the bottom as they won their basement clash with castle Cary by seven wickets. Cary were all out for 126 all out as they could not cope with B Venn’s 4-30 and D Price with 4-13 and Ilton took full points as they got home thanks to M Davies hitting 62 not out in under 36 overs. Barrington are still second despite losing to Wells by two wickets. Their 194-9 looked competitive but the City side scraped home despite E White taking 4-34 and S Redwood 2-31. Redwood had earlier hit 66 but Wells’s V Johnson and D Gooch took seven wickets between them to set up the win.

North Somerset side Lympsham are just 12 points behind leaders Long Sutton in Division Three after a ten wicket win over Broadway and Horton are lie midtable. J Luff bagged 6-14 as Broadway were all out for just 91 and Lympsham knocked them off in under 20 overs.

South Petherton continue to dominate Division Four as they demolished Cranmore by nine wickets. Cranmore hit a respectable 194 with G Fry and M Bell taking three wickets each but P Acreman with 85 and R Pickford with 70 cruised home in 36 overs. North Perrott II had an easy day against Banwell and Churchill. J Bradley (42) and J Bond with 52 backed up C Boundy who top scored with 77 as the Seconds made 254-6 before P Munden’s 5-39 and R Hyett’s 2-6 rolled out Banwell for 89.

In Division Six Crewkerne still lead the way after another easy win by nine wickets, this time over Purnells II, of Paulton. R Keylock Jnr with 2-15, G Preston with 3-12 and A Knight 3-490 did the damage as Purnells were all out for 74. J Gould made half the runs in reply as Crewkerne took just 13 overs to claim the points.

In Division Seven Chard A v Barrington A xvxvxvxvxvxvxvxvxvxvxxvxvx. Ilminster A had no luck against third placed Evercreech whose 240-6 proved to heavy for the Illy batsmen to deal with. Eight bowlers were tried with S Simms taking 2-39 being the best butonly N Crouch with 45 and L Larcombe with 28 batting at ten made any inroads.

In Div 8S Sparkford II v South Petherton II was cancelled but Crewkerne II went down to Wincanton II 22 runs having made 157 in reply to Wincanton’s 179-8. P Tolley made 34 for Crewkerne and R Keylock Sen 47 in what was a good start but it petered out. A Wellman had earlier taken 3-36 for Crewkerne.

In Division 9SE there were runs aplenty as Broadway and Horton II were all out for 222 chasing Ilton II 245 all out before tea. A Mackay (54) and L Watkins (91) made the bulk of the runs for Broadway with B Isaacs taking 5-35 which was good enough as A Knight (37), B Willmott (44) and C Hignett (53) had earlier set up the win for Ilton.

North Perrott Academy had an easy seven wicket win at Huish and Langport II who were all out for 79 thanks to J Hopper’s 4-5. M Downing then hit 28 as the Academy won and collected maximum points.
