HOCKEY: Youngsters find the going tough in Somerset championships
CHARD Hockey Club’s Under-12s teams could hold their heads high following the Somerset county championships on Sunday.
They came up against some good opposition from Yeovil & Sherborne, Taunton Vale, Shepton Mallet, Taunton Civil Service and Cheddar Valley during the tournament held at Yeovil Recreation Ground.
Chard came bottom of the group, but put in some gutsy performances including a draw with Cheddar Valley.
The girls also put in some good performances, but they too came bottom of their group despite their excellent efforts.
Taunton Vale and Shepton Mallet girls will represent Somerset at the regional finals later this month, while for the boys it will be Yeovil & Sherborne and Taunton Vale.
