ILMINSTER Town slipped deeper into the relegation mire when they lost 3-0 at Watchet Town on Saturday.

The result leaves the Blues lying third from bottom of the Somerset County league’s premier division with their position looking ever more perilous.

Darren Manley’s side have picked up just one point from their last nine league matches and have conceded ten goals in their last three.

Manley was left frustrated after the Blues conceded two goals in the first 15 minutes, leaving them with a mountain to climb.

Had Charlie Rut-ter’s early effort crept home instead of hitting the post things might have been different.

But Ilminster never looked like getting back into the game despite second half improvement following a change in formation.

Manley said: “The question is, when are we going to start learning from our mistakes. Until we do we are going to remain in the situation we are in.”

The Blues have cause for some mild optimism this weekend when they entertain Minehead at 2.30pm.

The Blues are going through a sticky patch themselves. They are without a win in three matches and were hammered 7-2 by mid-table Berrow last Saturday.
