EDMUNDO Paolini won the Seniors’ November Medal qualifier by just one shot at Cricket St Thomas last Monday.

The event attracted a field of 35.

In fair conditions and with the application of winter rules, players found the course to their liking with four of them scoring better than par.

In Division 1 Paolini just fought off the challenge of Mike Hone with returning sub par scores.

Division 2 was a different matter as Richard Hall won by a margin of six shots Results: Division 1 – Edmundo Paolini 67, 2 Mike Hone 68, 3 Maurice Arnold 70. Division 2 – 1 Richard Hall 66, 2 Brian Marsh 72, 2 Mike Mosser 76.

In dense fog, 40 members attended the two man Texas Scramble on Wednesday.

Despite the conditions, players managed to complete the course with reasonable scores.

In a tight finish the team led by Alan Chance managed a narrow victory by 0.25 of a shot over the pair led by Alan Davis.

Result: 1 Alan Chance & Nick Hill 64.75, 2 Alan Davis & Des Denning 65.00, 3 Brian Marsh & Martin Bargery 67.00, 4 Nick George & Richard Forster 67.00.

The Seniors completed their week on Friday with a three man, all-to-score stableford.

A total of 48 members formed 16 teams, with the benchmark score of 100 in mind.

In a close match, no team managed to score par, but no fewer than eight teams managed scores in the 90s.

Among the leaders in the clubhouse were teams led by John McOmish, Mike Burt and Alan Chance, all of whom returned scores of 94.

This was beaten by the late finishers, and the ultimate winners were a team led by Bob Hollingsworth with 98.
