CHARD manager Adam Fricker is likely to be missing eight members of his first team squad for the trip to Wellington in the Toolstation Western league today.

The situation persuaded Fricker to rest some of his regulars for Tuesday night's trip to Odd Down in the second round of the Somerset Premier Cup when the Robins lost 5-0.

Fricker said: “Our injuries, suspensions and other absentees are really stacking up.

“We have a very strong 1st XI but our strength in depth will be severely tested and let’s hope the lads who come in from the reserves can step up to the mark.”

The Robins remain without goalkeeper Jason Hutchings, who has a suspected broken wrist while Jamie Underwood has a damaged hamstring.

Leigh Bailey is suspended, Mark Scott, Louis Gillman and Scott Holland are all working, while Jamie Barfoot and Nathan Warren are otherwise engaged at a stag do.

Fricker added: “Looking on the bright side our attack is really looking potent at the moment. Ed Butcher is really flying and is a much better player now he’s worked on his game and forced his way back into the team.

“Our problems could well be keeping things tight at the back.”

A number of the Chard players are well acquainted with Wellington, and Fricker himself used to play for them. But Fricker does not see the match as a local derby.

He added: “As far as I’m concerned Saturday’s game is just another opportunity to pick up three points. We will just be treating them like any other team in the league.”

Fricker is also wary that Wellington’s are in a false position in the lower reaches of the table.

They have put in some good performances in recent weeks and even toppled premier division leaders Melksham in the Les Phillips Cup.
