CRAIG Hiscock, manager of Chard Under-14s, is looking to tap in to the wealth of local talent to strengthen his side.
Hiscock said: “I have a small but strong team. Unfortunately I only have 18 signed up which I find really frustrating as when injury or sickness strikes I have no back up. “After watching the Year 9 at Holyrood Academy match the other week – when they beat Westfield of Yeovil 75-0 – it’s clear there is so much talent within the area.
“I have a great team of coaches and with just a couple of new players we could become one of the strongest teams in the county.”
Hiscock is inviting boys in years 8 and 9 who play rugby for their schools in Chard, Ilminster or Crewkerne to train with the club on Wednesday nights on the Crewkerne Road playing fields at 6.30pm.
The team also has training or a match on Sundays at Chard rugby club (10 am).
