IF it was goals you wanted to see, then Misterton was the place to be on Saturday as the Premier Division strugglers suffered their worst defeat since rejoining the league in 1962 by conceding 25 goals without reply against Beaminster.

Josh Hunter set a new goal-scoring record for the visitors as he found the net 12 times.

Greg Channing added five goals with Josh Baker and Robin Jones adding a brace each.

The winners total was completed by Dean Hyett, Luke Hayter, Dean Pyett and goal keeper Billy Fleet who scored from the penalty spot.

While many will consider this result somewhat as a total drubbing, Misterton can take some small consolation in the fact that they have not set a record for the number of goals let in.

That misfortune is held by the now defunct Stockland who were beaten 32-0 by Charmouth in 1960 when Colin Bowditch hit the headlines with 14 of the goals.

The most recent defeat anywhere near these proportions came ten years ago when White Horse Reserves beat Chard United Reserves 22-0.

Top team West & Middle Chinnock suffered their first league defeat of the season as they went down by the odd goal in three at Perry Street.

Strikes by Dan O’Connor (penalty) and Brad Cleal had given the hosts a two-goal lead at the interval, but Nick Bond reduced the arrears soon after the restart when his effort was deflected into the goal off a defender to give the leaders a glimmer of hope of continuing their unbeaten league run to seven.

Shepton Beauchamp moved level on points with Chinnock following a 9-1 victory over visitors Ilminster Town A.

Dan Smith led Shepton’s scoring spree with four goals. Dan Peach and Aaron Staynor contributed two goals apiece with Kris Hastings completing the tally.

The Blues replied through 16-year-old Andrew Carvell who was making his debut for the club.

South Petherton appear to have overcome their poor start to the season by extending their unbeaten sequence to four in recording a 3-1 home win against Combe St Nicholas reserves.

Hayden Smith opened the scoring for Pethy on the half hour with Danny Rendell doubling the advantage five minutes later.

Jordan Allen pulled a goal back for Combe with 12 minutes remaining only for Lee Richards to regain the home sides two-goal advantage in the closing seconds.

Crewkerne Town are now the only side in the division with a 100% record following a narrow 1-0 success over Lyme Regis reserves. However, they had to thank a Lyme player for gifting them the winner with less than ten minutes left on the clock.

Winsham United started the day in pole position in Division One, but dropped to second after losing 6-0 at Barrington who go above them on goal difference.

Guy Dare was on target twice in the win that was completed by singles from Sam Spurway, James Thompson, Ian Masters and Andy Whitefield.

With only one win to their credit after their previous seven outings, Pymore were hoping to double their points tally with a success at home to Luso-Chard.

But a goal by Adam Cody-Boucher couldn’t save the Dorset outfit from a 3-1 loss. Renato Silva (2) and Tiago Casimiro netted the goals that put more distance between the winners and their hosts near the foot of the table.

A strike by Lee Richardson late in the game at Lyme Bantams earned Forton Rangers a share of the spoils from a 1-1 draw. Steve Batey had given the Bantams the lead.

Ryan Hobbie and Neil Reed were the marksmen for Combe A who moved out of the Division Two relegation zone after claiming their first maximum points of the season by beating fellow strugglers Beaminster reserves 2-0.

Ilminster Town A remain rooted to the basement position following a 6-1 defeat by Crewkerne Rangers reserves.

Simon Denslow was Rangers top marksman with a hat-trick. Steve Dunkerton, Jack Blunn and Scott Isaacs also found the net in the triumph.

Ilminster’s goal came courtesy of a Crewkerne player.

The battle for supremacy in Division Three continues as Barrington reserves held on to top spot when goals by Luke Woodard and Tom Butler brought them a 2-0 verdict against Millwey Rise reserves.

The winners are level on points with Kingsbury who hit four goals without reply at their Thorney Road ground against Shepton Beauchamp reserves. Jake Russell netted twice in the win that was completed by Luke Monk and Nigel Jeffreys.

Chard United reserves remain two points adrift of the leading pair following a narrow 3-2 defeat of visitors South Petherton reserves.

A Jamie Brown brace and a Liam Male strike brought United the points, while Matt Darby and Jimmy Rees netted consolations for the losers.

Merriott Rovers and Chard Rangers entertained their supporters with a 1-1 draw. Kieron Bailey scored for Dynamos with Scott Curtis finding the net for Rangers.

Thorncombe reserves ended a five-match winless run by hamming six goals without reply past an out-of-sorts Dowlish & Donyatt.

Karl Smith was the Thorns top scorer with a hat-trick. Player/manager Gary Parsley added two goals and Ashley Allen completed the scoring with a single.

In Division Four the leading pair of Combe B and Merriott Rovers were without a fixture.

That gave fast- improving Uplyme reserves the opportunity to strengthen their hold on third spot as they won 4-1 at Hinton St George with goals from Niall Waterhouse (2), Jake Bearpark and Dan Boot. Ross Jewell was the Hinton marksman.

Farway United reserves claimed a rare three points by beating Drimpton reserves by the odd goal in seven. Drimpton’s scorers were Chris Fry (2) and Andy Jeffrey.

Chard United All Stars must have had high hopes of lifting themselves off the foot of the table when goals from Steve Barnes and Steven Egan saw them leading Winsham United reserves 2-0 at the halfway stage of their match.

But with the strong wind at their backs after the break, Winsham came more into the game and pulled a goal back with a 30-yard free-kick by Matt Crabb.

Winsham then levelled the scores when a long throw-in by Tom Smith glanced off the head of Richard White to bring the striker his 143rd league goal.
