CHARD B continued their unbeaten run with a 3-1 defeat of East Devon C in the Davis Wood league but took a long time to break down a resolute defence and agile goalkeeper.

The opening goal was the result of a swift move. Nathan Johnson linked up with Durgan Cooper who passed to Andy Swain. His shot rebounded off the keeper in Cooper’s path to score.

The second goal came shortly afterwards with Swain scoring from a narrow angle.

The visitors’ young attack at times had Chard stretched – their best move of the half being thwarted by a superb block from keeper Callum Bailey.

Chard continued to push forward and despite a number of excellent chances were unable to find the net.

The second half started much the same. Adam Veitch managed to weave his way into the D and strike a firm shot to score.

The visitors then pulled one back from a penalty corner.

Chard continued to attack in numbers but were unable find that killer pass to extend their advantage.
