CHARD Town manager Adam Fricker is hoping tomorrow’s home game with struggling Radstock Town will act as a springboard to jump up the Toolstation Western league table.

The match, which kicks off at 3pm, is the first of five consecutive home league games for the Robins following a re-arrangement of their fixtures.

And Fricker sees a chance for the Robins to put together a good run.

He said: “With all due respect to Radstock there is no hiding the fact that we should expect to beat them at home.

“They have only won once all season and are conceding nearly three goals a game.

“It provides us with an ideal opportunity to bounce back after our defeat last Saturday and hopefully we can kick on from there.”

The Robins lost 2-1 at Hengrove at the weekend in a match which Fricker described as “forgettable”.

He said: “It was a very scrappy affair in which no team excelled. I think it was a question of whichever team scored first would go on to win the game.”

Hengrove took the lead from the penalty spot mid-way through the second half when the ball struck Nathan Warren on the hand as he attempted to head clear.

The home side extended their advantage ten minutes from time when Chard failed to clear their lines. And although substitute Adam Cole pulled one back five minutes later Chard were unable to force the equaliser.

Fricker said: “Hengrove were a typical Bristol side, well organised and very physical.”

Chard will be missing Lewis Gillman this weekend after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season while goalkeeper Jason Hutchings is also likely to miss out because of a persistent hamstring injury.

Next Wednesday Chard are away to Calne Town in the preliminary round of the Les Phillips Cup (7.30pm).
