CHARD ladies drew 2-2 at Taw Valley in Barnstaple in their second league match of the season.

Unsure of how they would fare facing a team who were used to the standards of this higher league, Captain EJ Hines ensured Chard were wearing their game faces from the start.

Although facing tough opponents, Chard looked confident on the ball - distributing well and ensuring Taw Valley's defence were working hard.

Troublesome duo Amy Goss and Rose Mitchell caused havoc for Taw Valley down the right-side of the pitch and provided Chard with plenty of opportunities.

Ellie Seward took Chard to a 1-0 lead before Taw Valley replied with two goals of their own.

Chard's defence worked hard to keep their team in the game, with goalkeeper Anna Dewick making several agile saves.

HInes finally secured a much-deserved point as she slotted the second goal through the keeper's legs.

Player of the match: Anna Dewick.
