CHARD reserves' management duo of Stuart Parris and Hung Dang were especially delighted with their 4-3 victory at Willand reserves yesterday as both veterans played a part due to a player shortage.
It was the strike force of James Boyland and Adam Tovey that featured prominently in the victory, although Parris used his experience to thwart a home forward in a one-on-one at a crucial time.
Chard were 2-0 ahead by the 25th minute of this Fresha Devon & Exeter league, Premier Division clash.
First Boyland outpaced the defence to leave Tovey with a tap in then Tovey provided the ammunition for Callum Mooney to convert at the far post.
Willand pulled one back before the break but Boyland intercepted a defensive pass to drive the ball low into the bottom corner to make it 3-1.
Willand enjoyed a purple patch which saw them score two quick goals to level matters up, before Tovey hit a screamer into the top corner to settle the match with 10 minutes left.
Chard went on to dominate with Ben Mear and Tovey having further chances.
Chard: Stuart Parris, Jordan Chant, Josh Parsons, Rob Stubbins, Shaun Wells-Burr, Keiren Bailey (sub Hung Dang 15 mins), Danny Aplin, Ben Mear, Callum Mooney, James Boyland, Adam Tovey.
Chard reserves are without a match next Saturday.
