TWO of racing’s best know characters, champion jockey A.P.McCoy and Derek Thompson, are heading to Taunton for their final meeting of the season tomorrow when the first of the seven race card is due off at 4.55pm.

The presence of McCoy always adds something special to racing at Taunton, especially when combined with the voice of ‘Tommo’ who will be hosting the evening.

And they are not the only names who will have a presence at Wednesday’s big meeting because trainers Paul Nicholls, David Pipe, Philip Hobbs, Jonjo O’Neill, Donald McCain, Alan King and Emma Lavelle all have runners and jockeys Aidan Coleman, Nick Schofield and Robert Thornton are all booked to ride.

With 65 horses declared and a going of good, good to soft in places, racegoers have got a finale to look forward to.

In addition to the action on the course there will be a hog roast, outside bars and two giant screens to watch all of the racing.

For those who really want to get into the St George’s Day mood why not join in the fun by going along in fancy dress and win some great prizes for the best dressed Knights and the best dressed Maidens.

Accompanied children under 16 will be admitted free.

Racegoers are reminded that a courtesy bus will depart from Taunton Railway Station one hour before the first race calling at Castle Green en route and returning 30 minutes after the start of the last race.
