PETER Trego has been left out of Somerset's squad to face Yorkshire at Taunton this weekend and replaced by Adam Hose, who is in line for his County Championship debut.
The all-rounder has paid the price for a lean start to the season which has seen him score 164 runs in eight innings at an average of 20.50.
Hose, meanwhile, impressed in the Royal London One-Day Cup group stages and scored his first century for the club in the victory at local rivals Gloucestershire.
The batsman, who is expected to directly replace Trego at number six, also scored 194 in a recent Second XI fixture so is in good form going into the match, which begins tomorrow (Friday).
James Hildreth and Steve Davies, two other batsmen struggling for form, retain their places in the squad, while last week's star man Lewis Gregory is included as Somerset continue to monitor his recovery from a back injury.
Yorkshire travel south in good form having comprehensively beaten Lancashire by 10 wickets in the Roses encounter last weekend, though they are expected to be without former England bowler Tim Bresnan.
Somerset squad: Marcus Trescothick, Dean Elgar, Tom Abell (capt), James Hildreth, Steve Davies (wkt), Adam Hose, Lewis Gregory, Craig Overton, Jamie Overton, Dom Bess, Jack Leach, Josh Davey, Tim Groenewald, Roelof van der Merwe.
