TWO members of Chard RFC Colts will be heading out to Japan at the end of this month, after Exeter College was selected by the RFU to represent England at the Sanix World Rugby youth tournament in Fukuoka.

Niall Crouch and Ben Fenton both attended Holyrood Academy in Chard, where they were regular members of the school rugby teams from Year 7 to 11.

They are currently part of the Rugby Academy at Exeter College, playing for their AASE team.

Crouch, a fly-half, is a talented all-round sportsman, as he is also proficient in football and cricket.

Having got into rugby at Holyrood, he has become an outstanding member of Chard Colts, with his handling and kicking skills indicating that he has a bright future.

Fenton, who predominantly plays at full-back, got into the sport after attending a summer camp at Chard RFC when he was 11 years old, and he still plays for Chard Colts.

He has represented Somerset at Under-15 and Under-16 level, and played for Bath Rugby Academy and at tournaments at Warwick, Harrow and Wellington (Berkshire).

He hopes to become a professional rugby player and maybe even represent his country one day.

Both boys and their families are grateful for the support received from Holyrood and Chard RFC.

The trip to Japan is self-funded, so as part of the fundraising the team have completed a 6,000-mile sponsored cycle ride.
