NOT surprisingly, all of Chard Rugby Club’s games were postponed last weekend, as were most matches in the South West, writes Glyn Hughes.

Two games did take place in Western Counties West, with Devonport Services beating Wadebridge 28-20 and St Ives defeating Truro 38-13.

Neither of these results affected Chard’s league situation, as they remain eighth in the table.

Weather and ground conditions permitting, the league programme will resume tomorrow, with Chard having a vital game at Paignton.

Victory for Chard would go a long way to securing their place in this division for next season.

Chard won the home game against Paignton quite comfortably, but their form since – particularly away from home – has been iffy, and Paignton know that if they win, they would only be three points behind Chard.

Supporters going to Paignton will find the ground very easy to find, as it is immediately behind the railway and bus station right in the centre of town.

Also tomorrow, the 2nd XV are at home to Martock (main pitch) and the 3rd XV host Wells 3rds (Crewkerne Road pitch), the matches kicking off at 2.30pm and 2.15pm respectively.

The postponed 1st XV match against Sidmouth has been re-scheduled for Saturday, March 17 (ko 2.30pm).

As for Crewkerne, they host Wellington 2nds in Somerset 1 tomorrow (ko 2.30pm).
