Western Counties West
Crediton 13, Chard 10

CHARD Rugby Club’s 1st XV remain sixth in the Western Counties West table despite defeat away to league strugglers Crediton on Saturday.

The visitors led for much of the game, taking a 5-3 advantage into half time and holding a 10-6 lead until the home side’ scored a converted try with two minutes left.

Chard are back on home turf this coming Saturday, but it is a tricky test for them, as their visitors are second-placed Devonport Services.

THERE were no games for Chard’s other teams at the weekend, as the 2nd XV were without a scheduled fixture, and Chard 3rds were awarded an away walkover after opponents Cheddar Valley 2nds were unable to raise a side.

This Saturday, Chard 2nds, 10th in Somerset 2 South, travel to play third-placed Winscombe 2nds.

For the 3rd XV, though, it’s their turn to miss a week in the Somerset 3 South fixtures.

CREWKERNE avenged their 62-17 defeat to Bath Old Edwardians earlier in the season, by winning 47-5 at home on Saturday.

The result leaves them sitting sixth in the Somerset 1 table, between Morganians in fifth and Wellington 2nds in seventh, and with a game in hand on both teams.

This Saturday they are due to visit bottom side Wyvern, who have struggled to fulfil their fixtures of late.
