CHARD Rugby Club’s 1st XV are back in action on Saturday as they travel to top-half rivals Kingsbridge.

Chard sit sixth in the Western Counties West table, with seven wins, six losses and a draw so far this season, leaving them four points behind fourth-placed Kingsbridge.

Chard have not been able to win two games in succession since the opening two weeks of the season, so they will hope to break that sequence this weekend, having overcome Burnham-on-Sea 48-12 on December 16.

As for Chard 2nds, they are at home to Burnham 2nds in Somerset 2 South this Saturday.

The hosts were beaten 78-5 by league leaders Castle Cary before Christmas, and this looks like another tough match, with Burnham in third and Chard ninth.

There’s no match this weekend for Chard 3rd XV, who sit eighth (second bottom) in Somerset 3 South.

Their first match of the new year is away to fifth-placed Cheddar Valley 2nds on January 13.

CREWKERNE, who sit sixth in the Somerset 1 table, are away to Chew Valley 2nds this Saturday.

Chew Valley are in third, 10 points ahead of their visitors.
