CHARD Rugby Club are sad to announce the passing of Alistair Taylor, whose funeral was held at Yeovil Crematorium on November 3, at the age of 66.

Alistair, known as Ali, was a long-time member and supporter of the club, and had attended matches regularly, including several this season.

Players who turned out for the Vets team a few years ago will remember that, even when working in London, Ali kept in touch with the club by bringing his adopted club Haringey down on tour and also hosting the Vets in London.

Ali was a research scientist whose home was in Dowlish Wake, and he was part of a team that carried out a growth survey of children in Chard over a long period of time.

He was also a keen member of Ilminster Cricket Club.

The thoughts of everyone who knew Ali are with his family at this time.
