HOLYROOD Academy's feeder primary schools took part in a superb Under-11 Tag Rugby Tournament.
The competition was hosted at Holyrood in conjunction with Chard Rugby Club, and was officiated by Holyrood students alongside Chard Rugby Club coaches.
A tremendous entry of 11 teams contested the event.
This meant that over 100 local primary children were involved in total – making for a great spectacle which was supported by a large crowd of friends and family members.
The enthusiastic teams came from Avishayes, Buckland St Mary, Chard, Combe St Nicholas, Hawkchurch, Manor Court, Neroche, Redstart and Winsham.
Neroche came out on top in this Year 5-6 competition, with Buckland St Mary finishing as runners up. Both of these teams will now go forward to represent the Holyrood cluster in the South Somerset Finals on March 17 at Castle Cary Rugby Club.
All participants were congratulated at the end for putting on a great display of junior rugby on what was a brilliant afternoon of competitive sport.
School sports co-ordinator, Jason Hedaux, thanked Chard Rugby Club for their enthusiasm and hospitality and welcomes the community links made between schools and community clubs.
He said: “These links greatly help schools to deliver the competitive nature of sport for our children.”
