WITH Chard's current injury crisis the knock-on effect was really felt by the 2nds who did well to put out a side but lost 62-7 in Tribute Somerset 1.
What they lacked in pace they made up for in experience with at least five players approaching 50 in the side.
Castle Cary were a useful outfit however and won comfortably although skipper Tinley praised the ‘terrific’ spirit in his team.
Tom Evans scored the Chard try with a conversion from Sam Mouland.
On Saturday the 2nds are at home to Midsomer Norton (3pm) at Crewkerne Road.
Chard 3rds are due to play Burnham 3rds at the same venue.
