IN blustery conditions, 45 Seniors entered the April monthly medal tournament at Cricket St Thomas on Monday.

With the adverse conditions and playing off the white tees, only one player scored better than par, as John Wandless carded 69 to win Division 1 by five shots.

In Division 2, the Seniors found it hard going, with Bill Hilson winning with 74, three shots better than Bernie Skeels in second.

Result: Division 1 - 1. John Wandless (69); 2. Mark Cording (74); 3. Roger Davis (75)

Division 2 - 1. Bill Hilson (74); 2. Bernie Skeels (77); 3. Ed Paolini (79)

The sun enticed 42 members of the Senior section to enter the three-man yellow ball Bowmaker competition on Wednesday.

The course was wet in places, which was probably the cause of half the teams losing the ball.

Bob Barrow’s team recorded a moderate tally of 100 points to win.
Bryan Frost led his team to second with 98 points.

Result: 1. Bob Barrow; John Pearce & Nick Gabb - 100 points; 2. Bryan Frost; Nobby Hodder & Ian Housham - 98 points; 3. Bob White; Bert Robinson & Mark Coleman - 94 points

After a delayed start on Friday due to fog, 54 Seniors played in the Harper Three Towns competition in memory of two stalwarts of the club – Ken Harper and his son, Keith, who recently passed away.

Chard, Ilminster and Crewkerne compete for this trophy annually.

The format is match play with a member representing one of the three towns in a three man match.

After 10 games, Chard were leading Ilminster by three points.
This lead was maintained with three games to play, and when Iain Rowland won the 18th game for maximum points, Chard’s victory was confirmed.

Result: Chard 41 points; Ilminster 36 points; Crewkerne 31 points
