TOMORROW morning is a big one for the Somerset athletes at Gold Coast 2018, with Maddie Hinch, David Luckman, Rob Paxton and Louis Ridout all looking to keep their medal hopes alive.

Here's what to look out for...

Hockey

England women have had a couple of days off after securing progress to the hockey semi-finals, but that all changes tomorrow.

They face New Zealand for a place in the final at 10am (UK time) on Thursday morning, and goalkeeper Maddie Hinch will be key to their hopes.

She had a watching brief for much of the group stage, but showed signs of her superb reflexes, pulling off two superb saves against South Africa.

Lawn bowls

Rob Paxton secured his place in the men's singles quarter-finals, where he will face New Zealand's Shannon McIlroy.

Today Paxton won his final match in Section A, easing past Cephas Kimwaki Kimani of Kenya, 21-14.

He's already played McIlroy once, winning 21-18, so the New Zealander will be looking for revenge when the pair clash at midnight tonight.

As for Louis Ridout, he's into the last eight of the men's fours quarter-finals despite a loss to Scotland (12-8) today - England had already beaten Singapore and Brunei Darussalam.

There's another round of pool matches in the event to be played, so it is not yet decided who Ridout and co will face in the quarter-finals (3.30am).

Shooting

Having already won gold in the Queen's Prize pairs event, David Luckman began his defence of his individual title from Glasgow 2014 today.

After the first day of competition he sits in fourth place in the rankings – Australian Jim Bailey leading the pack.

Tomorrow (1am) will see the second round of the event, ahead of the final battle on Saturday.
