CHARD Road Runners were off to the local half marathon extravaganza that is the Yeovil Half, a race that saw more than 1,500 runners taking to the streets of Yeovil.

Representing CRRs were Wayne Loveridge, Nina Wagstaff, Andrew Clancy and Matt Baker.

With the race heading out from and finishing in the town centre, the crowds were a great support from the off.

All four Chard runners got off to a fast start as they headed out into the Parks land; Loveridge was pushing hard in this field of many elite runners, while Wagstaff was looking to gain a sub-1h 30m time.

As the race headed out towards Montacute, Clancy was moving up the field and Matt Baker was well on target for a sub-2h race.

As the runners entered back into town, it was all out with the huge crowd support.

First across the line for CRRs was Wayne Loveridge in a time of 1:16:46, putting him in a brilliant 10th place out of 1,548.

Next, and hitting her target, was Nina Wagstaff in 1:29:46 (91st).

Andrew Clancy was next with a great sprint to the line, crossing in 1:36:06 (167th).

And Matt Baker, pushing to his limit, made his run into the line count by taking one minute off his PB and 10 minutes of his last Yeovil Half, crossing in 1:56:26 (695th).
