AN excellent turnout was present this year to see the great and mighty Wayne “Hawaii 501” Mardle, former PDC and BDO professional darts player.

Also on stage for his fourth year at these presentations was the highly entertaining and brilliantly funny MC John Fowler.

The show kicked off at 8pm with Wayne playing the individuals winner of each division.

At half time, a cheque for £270 was presented to the Beacon Cancer Centre, in Taunton, on behalf of the league by members of The Madhouse Crew, from the entry fees and donations at The Shane Goodall trophy competition held earlier in the year.

With the help of John Fowler and league secretary Matt Balance, Wayne Mardle presented all the trophies to the winners.

Chard & Ilminster News:

PRIZE NIGHT: Chard Darts Premier Division 3-a-side winners Merv Whackley, Luke Woodard and Robin Cox with (second from right) Wayne Mardle.

After this, Wayne took on a random selection of players whose names were drawn from the hat by John Fowler.

It was a one-off leg off 501, but the entertainment was in seeing Wayne trying to blow the dart into the double or stand off the stage to do the same.

Of course his 180 celebrations which took him on a hand-slapping tour of the whole audience were a delight for everyone.

Thanks go to all committee members who helped in the smooth running of the evening.

Additional thanks go to Steve Jones and his staff, DJ Steve with his walk-on music and his walk-on girls, and a big mention also goes to secretary Matt Balance who, in his first year, organised the whole event superbly.
