CHARD Road Runners took on the Dartmoor Discovery, the Crewkerne 10k and the West Bay Standard Distance Triathlon last weekend.

Bernie Genge and Paul Masters went to Princetown, Dartmoor, for the UK’s longest single-lap ultra road marathon.

Despite hot weather and a downpour, Masters finished in 5:13:14 (72/200) and Genge in 5:23:16 (82/200).

On Sunday nine CRRs entered the Crewkerne 10k, part of CRRs’ Club Championship.

Dan Cahill took the King of the Hill challenge title and was third overall; Andy Leeson was next CRR home, with Kate Beaumont, Matt Baker, Kieron Chapman, James Musselwhite, Hannah Dowling, Helen Baxter and Lizzie Smith following.

Three members started the West Bay Standard Triathlon – a 1,500m sea swim, 47km cycle and hilly 10km run to Seatown and back.

Martin Holley pushed hard to cross the line in 3:14:23 (10th overall), with Rachel Bird next in 3:14:43 (11th), and Jim Wagstaff in 3:15:23 (12th).
