LEGENDARY champion jockey AP McCoy is planning to make his 'swan song' at Taunton when they host their Family Fun Easter meeting next Thursday.

The first of the six races on the card sets off at 2.20pm.

McCoy has ridden well over 4,000 winners since 1992 and been crowned National Hunt champion jockey on 20 consecutive occasions, a record that is unlikely to ever be beaten.

Earlier this year McCoy announced his retirement at the end of this season so this is expected to be the last time he will ride at the Orchard Portman course.

If that wasn't enough incentive to go racing there is a handy prize pot of £41,500 on offer so another great afternoon looks to be in store for punters.

In addition to the excitement of the racing on the course there will be plenty for youngsters to enjoy including ferret racing, a ball pit, bouncy castle and mega slide and face painting.

An Easter Egg Hunt is also plannned and the first 300 children through the gate will be given a free goody bag.

The first face on the card is a maiden hurdle over 2m 31/2f which is followed by the C&D SouthWest Ltd Novices' Handicap Hurdle over 2m 1f.

The Roy Dunn Memorial Novices' Handicap Steeplechase follows at 3.20. Run over 2m 3f with a prize fund of £8,500, this race is dedicated to a man who had a long association with Taunton Racecourse.

The big race on the card is the Bathwick Tyres Handicap Hurdle, a Class 3 event over 2m 31/2f at 3.50pm, which has £10,500 up for grabs.

The Taunton Jaguar Handicap Steeplechase over 2m 71/2f is next to post at 4.20, before the curtain comes down with a Conditional Jockeys' Training Series Handicap Hurdle over 3m 1/2f, the longest of the day.
