WINDWHISTLE Seniors held a Bowmaker competition last Monday when 27 members took part.

Several of the nine teams made scores in excess of 75 points, which was under-par golf, but the outright winners were Alan Chance, Mike Hone and Bert Robinson who amassed a score of 81.

A total of 40 members attended the September qualifying medal tournament on Wednesday.

In perfect conditions, several players managed scores of under par. Mike King set the pace early on in Division 1 with two over par score of 72. This was beaten first by Ian Fielder by one point, and later by Mike Burt who won the Division with a near faultless round of a one under par 69.

In Division 2, Brian Hodder was leading in the clubhouse with a score of net 70 having beaten Keith Harper, but an extraordinary round by Edmundo Paolini took the honours at the end with a blistering nett 65, thus reducing his handicap to 18 and elevating him to Division 1.

Results: Division 1: 1 Mike Burt (69), 2 Ian Fielder (71), 3 Mike King (72). Division 2: 1 Edmundo Paolini (65), 2 Brian Hodder (70), 3 Keith Harper (71).
