Hockey success for Holyrood Academy

First published in Hockey by

GIRLS from Holyrood Academy in Chard have been crowned the South and East Somerset Sports Partnership Year Seven champions for hockey.

The team of captain Beth Beale, Kitty Wells, Hannah Billing, Katie Lee, Leila Salter, Mia Bond, Aimee Davey, Maisie Poole, Phoebe Sinclair and Emma Harris, under the supervision of coach Liz Bowker, triumphed on 'finals day' earlier this month.

The triangular final saw them up against teams from Sexeys School, Bruton, and King Arthur's Community School at Wincanton.

Holyrood played with great spirit throughout the competition and enjoyed a 7-1 success against Sexeys and a narrow 2-1 victory over King Arthur's.

The team showed excellent strength of character when injury threatened to sideline skipper Beth Beale.

But Beth showed great resolve to continue to the end of the final game to lead her side to victory.
