CHARD’S third team ended the league season in South-Eastern District One without a win but not for lack of effort.
Sidmouth were well placed in third spot so this was going to be a tough encounter.
Once again Chard soaked up pressure in defence and Richard Green pulled off some great saves but the pressure eventually told and the visitors built up an unassailable lead.
Chard's consolation came after a flurry in front of the Sidmouth goal with a succession of close-range shots being saved before Huw Edwards finally put the ball away.
With the developing skills of Chard’s young players, next season in a lower division will no doubt reap more success.
Despite the lack of success this season the spirit in the side has remained positive and the hockey has been enjoyed by all.
