GOCREA8 South East 2
Chard B 1, West Dorset A 2

FOLLOWING a good win the previous week, Chard entertained Bridport.

The home side saw a lot of changes and were bolstered by some seconds who did not have a game.

Both teams probed each other’s defences but West Dorset eventually found their way through with a well-executed reverse stick shot.

Despite the visitors being in the ascendancy, a break by Chard’s Jason Goddard opened up the defence, with the ball eventually falling to Alan Cheffey, but he spurned the chance.

Chard reorganised their team for the second half and had to hold off the West Dorset attackers, with KC Hibbard in goal pulling off a number of fine saves - but one such save was deflected into the path of the attackers and was converted.

This goal woke Chard up and they had a flurry of attacks, a good shot by Barnaby Willis being well saved.

Maintaining the forward pressure, Chard pulled one back from a penalty corner.

Gary Wheaton had a chance to level but mistimed his effort, with Chard just falling short of gaining a goal for a draw.

Chard: Hibbard, Critchley, Mooney, Cheffey, Swann, Grossey, Horne, Willis (A), Willis (B), Lewis, Float, Cheffey, Goodard.
