CHAMPIONS Chard B beat Ashmoor B 11-0 in their final match of the season in South East 3 of the Davis Wood league.

The home side scored five in the first-half with Duncan Lewis picking up a hat-trick and Durgan Cooper one, while a shot by Nick Liggins fell in the path of Tom Float who scored a superb goal to end a strong performance in the opening period.

Chard used all the pitch to get behind the defence with good running from Arthur Critchley and Nick Parkinson, the score could have been more if not for the agile Ashmoor goalkeeper.

The second-half was much the same as Chard gave their defenders the chance to play up front.

The Ashmoor tactic of hitting the ball down the middle of the pitch did not bode well as Chard picked the ball up easily and redistributed. Further goals came from James Float, Parkinson, a brace from Andy Swain, Cooper and Lewis.

Callum Bailey had a few flurries of activity in the last ten minutes but the home side kept their wits about them and recorded their best victory of the campaign.

With Chard’s closest rivals East Devon losing at the weekend they finish top of the league a clear eight points ahead of the nearest team.

Team: Bailey, Dare, Mooney, Cheffey, Liggins, Swain, Critchley, Float (J), Parkinson, Cooper, Lewis, Float (T).
