CHARD B continued their unbeaten season with a resounding 6-0 victory Bridgwater D in South East 3 of the Davis Wood league.

Chard could not get going in the first period and the lay-off since December was telling as defensive marking and passing were not up to the side’s normal standards.

Bridgwater were stronger in the tackles and their one chance saw the ball in the net only for the goal to be ruled out.

Near the end of the half Chard managed to work the ball around the home side’s penalty area and a neat cross from Andy Swain found Arthur Critchley to score.

The second half saw a different Chard team. They were a lot crisper and faster in their play and their youngsters ran the Bridgwater midfield ragged, advancing at pace.

The first goal came from an impressive run by Nick Parkinson who fired home.

Shortly afterwards Nathan Johnson scored the goal of the game as he won a race with the last defender to latch onto an aerial pass and coolly round the keeper to score. The chances kept on coming as the home side’s defence was left stranded as the midfield was bisected by Chards pace.

Duncan Lewis latched on to a James Float cross, with Float himself then nabbing a goal.

Chard’s victory was rounded off by the player who started the rout – Critchley.

Nick Liggins had an excellent game with some fine tackling and passing.
