THICK mist and rain failed to dampen the spirits of Chard Sunday ladies as they fought hard to beat Cheddar 3-0 in an evenly-contested game.
They pushed forward with real team spirit, making good use of Abbi Wheaton and Charlotte Mooney who both played superbly.
Everyone fought hard but Michelle Allen really got stuck in for her best game of the season.
As always defensive lynch-pin Emma Wyatt broke up most of the opposition’s attacks and it was a clearance from her that led to Chard’s first goal from Lois Butcher.
The home side continued to play attacking hockey and both Ros Clemmans and Rosie Withill distributed well from the middle alongside Hannah Billing who pushed forward to get the second.
It wasn’t all one-sided however and Cheddar led several attacks which called for solid defending from both Becky Black and Sue Stoker backed up by key saves from Hannah McGowan. Chard gave 100% effort right to the end and were rewarded with a third goal, again from the sharp-shooting Butcher.
Umpires: Chris Long and Vince Sharpe.
