A GREAT team effort from Chard, who worked well together from the start, enabled them to achieve a 6-1 victory over ECVH 2nds in Sedgemoor Division 2 of the West Club's Women's league.

Ruth Butcher and Rachel Ireland-Jones kept possession well and were were given good support by the midfield.

Chard’s first goal came when Amy Goss crossed the ball into the D for Ellie Seward to score at the back post scored.

Chard continued piling the pressure on ECVH and the second goal came from Hannah Mcgown after a melee in front of goal.

Then after another battle in the D, Seward scored Chard’s third. Before the half was over Chard increased their lead with a powerful effort from Ruth Butcher.

Chard pressured the opposition from the start of the second half and Ellie Seward was perfectly positioned on the back post to complete her hat-trick.

Tiredness started to set in and Chard let their guard, allow ECVH to pull one back.

However the goal only served to galvanise the visitors who worked well together to keep possession.

ECVH were unlucky to lose their goalkeeper due to injury and Butcher exploited her absence with an excellent strike to score Chards sixth.

Player of the match went to Ellie Seward.
