CHARD made a slow start to the game and had to soak up the pressure from the Marjon midfield and attack.

Chard played a lot of counter attacking hockey and got a goal from this with Ben Larcombe sweeping into the goal to make it 1-0.

he first half carried on much the same with Marjon having a lot of possession and Chard breaking away on the counter attack when they could.

However they didn’t capitalise on any more chances and went in at half time with the game far from safe.

After the half time discussions Chard came back out with a renewed energy and improved on their performance from the first half. Jon Stone made some great saves and centre backs Harvey Lupton and Steve Dare some great tackles to keep Chard in the game.

Chard got another goal after a good run from Gary Wheaton down the bye-line. Wheaton who laid it back for Matt Sheahan to flick into the net.

With the game now looking a bit safer Chard played some good attacking hockey. This led to the game being put out of Marjons reach with a good ball from Bertie Lupton put into the D for Sheahan to sweep into the net.

To their credit Marjon continued to put pressure on the Chard defence but the home side performed well to keep a clean sheet. Man of the match was Ben Larcombe.

This Saturday Chard are away two Torbay.
