ILMINSTER manager Darren Manley says he will take “whatever result comes along” when his promotion-chasing side visits Frome Collegians in division one of the Errea county league on Saturday (2.30pm).
The Blues have seen their last three league matches postponed and Manley is concerned his side will lack match fitness.
Manley said: “I have upped the training to twice a week but there is no substitute for match practice. There’s a real worry the lads will lack the sharpness required especially as we always have tough matches against Collegians.”
Ilminster were due to face Burnham United on Saturday but the match was postponed because their opponents’ Somerset Senior Cup tie with Westlands United took precedence. Burnham won the game 4-2.
Meanwhile mid-table Frome Collegians – who beat Ilminster 1-0 earlier in the season - returned to action with a 4-2 at Saltford.
The good news for Manley is that he is able to pick from a full-strength squad as Ilminster look for the points which will keep them in contention for promotion.
The Blues sit in fourth place but are just four points behind leaders Weston St Johns with three matches in hand.
