CHARD Town entertain basement club Portishead tomorrow in the Toolstation Western League First Division (ko 3pm), looking to extend their unbeaten league run to seven games.

When the teams met in August at Portishead it ended goalless.

Robins boss Paul Down reported no new injuries ahead of the Portishead clash, but added: “We must look to continue the good recent home form, and have to guard against a side who will be scrapping for points.”

Dave Duarte, who pulled out through illness last week, should be fine to play, and striker Steve Friend should also be available.

Reflecting on last Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Almondsbury UWE, Down said: “It was another good performance on the road, on another tricky surface.

“We controlled the game after a fairly even first 25 minutes, and should have been ahead at half time, but converted the chances in the second half.

“The front two [James Boyland and Taoufik Ben Salem] combined very effectively, supported by the midfield.

“Once again, the back four gave us a solid base to work from.”

Meanwhile, Chard Reserves - without a fixture last week - are away to Bickleigh in Division 1 of the Macron Devon & Exeter League on Saturday (ko 2.15pm).

ILMINSTER Town are without a game on Saturday but Andrew Male and his Reserve team are home at the Archie Gooch Pavilion with a 2.15 kick-off against Central (Exeter), which could see the return to action of Chris Nezinanya.

On Sunday, Ilminster Town Ladies travel to Charlestown Ladies for a South West Women's Premier Division match (ko 2pm).
