YEOVIL Town Ladies FC have strengthened ahead of their debut top-flight season, adding Nia Jones to the squad already bolstered by 10 players extending their contracts.

Manager Jamie Sherwood has added more depth to his side by signing dual sport international athlete Jones, who can play in a variety of positions and left Reading FC Women in December.

The 24-year-old made her debut in the Lady Glovers’ 3-2 defeat against Notts County in the fifth round of the SSE Women’s FA Cup on Sunday.

Lucy Quinn scored from the penalty spot – Yeovil’s first goal as a WSL 1 side – and Kelly Snook also netted, but it was the home side who progressed to the quarter-finals.

New girl Jones has 30 senior caps for Wales, and also plays netball for Super League side Celtic Dragons and competed at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

In addition to gaining her signature, Yeovil have secured 10 re-signings ahead of the new season.

Ellie Curson has extended her stay at the club, and remains captain, joined by Nicola Cousins, Helen Bleazard, Annie Heatherson, Nadia Lawrence, Jessie Jones, Leah Burridge and Steph Williams, plus FA Cup goalscorers Quinn and Snook.

The Lady Glovers get stuck into the WSL 1 experience with the Spring Series, starting against Liverpool at Huish Park, Yeovil, on April 23.

They also play three matches at the Viridor Stadium, Taunton – against Bristol City, Arsenal and Reading – and another two at Fairfax Park, Bridgwater, versus Sunderland and Notts County.
