ILMINSTER Town were denied the chance to draw level on points with Somerset County Division 1W leaders Portishead after their match at Winscombe was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Blues remain three points behind Portishead with 38 points from 18 games, the league pace-setters having 41 points from 17 matches.

Next week the team have a free weekend with no fixture.

Their return to league action comes with an away trip to Glastonbury (on March 18, ko 3pm), where the Blues will be back to full strength, as Jonny Manley returns after serving his three-match ban.

ILMINSTER Town Reserves, already assured of promotion, entertained Exmouth Spartans in Division 7 of the Devon & Exeter League.

They eventually won a tough match 3-1, with goals from Igor Costa, Taylor Jefferson and top scorer Warren Gabbidon.

The Reserves can clinch the division title with a win away to Seaton Town Reserves in their final league match of the season.

This coming Saturday they are in action away to Upottery Reserves in the Geary Cup quarter-final (ko 2pm).

THE Ilminster Ladies side also saw their match at home to Cheltenham, scheduled for Sunday, postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Ilminster, who sit third in the South West Women’s Football League Eastern Division, are set to travel to Oldland Abbotonians – fourth in the table – this Sunday (ko 2pm), with the Cheltenham match rearranged for March 26.
