CHARD Town will be looking for their fourth successive away win in the 1st Division of the Toolstation Western League when they visit Portishead Town on Saturday (ko 3pm).

In October, Chard beat Portishead 1-0 in the home game, with a Scott Martin goal.

Currently, Portishead are three points behind seventh-placed Chard but have three matches in hand.

Chard manager Paul Down thought that last Saturday's 1-1 draw with Chippenham Park was “a fair result in the end".

"Jon Hill made two outstanding saves in the second half and we also spurned good chances to score," he added.

“To our credit, we kept going to the end and pushed centre-back Kieran Bailey up front for the last five minutes, and he was pulled back by a defender when through on goal for that late penalty.”

Chard's ambitions have been hit by a mini injury crisis this weekend.

Dave Duarte (ankle) and Max Westlake, who is having an ultrasound on his knee, are expected to be missing, as is Luke Jackson, who came off with a hand injury, with an x-ray revealing three broken bones.

Andy Holmes, who picked up a shoulder injury at Roman Glass, is still sore, but it is hoped he will have recovered for the weekend.

Taoufik Ben Salem, who has been nursing an ankle injury and took the opportunity to go back to Tunisia on holiday, was expected back this week for a fitness assessment.
