CHARD Town entertain much-improved Chippenham Park on Saturday in Division 1 of the Toolstation Western League (ko 3pm).

Chippenham are on a four-match unbeaten run and beat league leaders Wellington 1-0 last Saturday.

They have tightened up considerably at the back in recent weeks, conceding just four goals in the last five games. When the sides met in the reverse encounter in September it ended 3-3 after a tense finish.

On the injury front, skipper Taoufik Ben Salem is definitely out for Saturday, as is Dave Duarte who turned his ankle in training.

Max Westlake was still feeling his knee and not risked last weekend, while Andy Holmes suffered a shoulder injury which it is hoped is not to serious. Shaun Wells-Burr, who missed the trip to Bristol, should be available.

Chard manager Paul Down was pleased with the comprehensive all-round display in last weekend's 2-0 victory on the 4G surface at Roman Glass.

He said: “It suited our players and the way we try to play.

“Two-nil hardly told the story, we hit the woodwork twice and missed three one on ones in the first half.

“We had further chances after the break, including a clear penalty which was not given.”
