YEOVIL Town’s Community Sports Trust is holding trials for the Under-8s to Under-16s Development /Advanced Centre and Junior Premier League this half term.

They will be on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 February.

The trust continues to progress its Development Centre, set up with the addition of a weekly fixture programme.

After the decision was made to form an Advanced Centre in 2012 which saw the forming of age group squads from Under 8 to Under 16, the trust decided that the next step for the groups was competitive football on a regular basis.

With this in mind the search started for a suitable league in which to compete, and this came in the form of the Junior Premier League.

The JPL is of a good standard and sits in between Junior Club and Academies / Centres of Excellence set ups.

The Trust are now in their first season competing in the league and have age groups from Under 13 to Under 16 participating.

There are also plans for an under 12 team for next season, and also discussions about the possibility of running an Under 18 side.

The younger age groups from Under 8 to Under 11 currently play their fixtures during half term, this is done to avoid clashes with their local junior club sides.

YTCST Development officer Bob Thomas said: “Particip-ating in the JPL has been an exciting venture for everybody involved with the Trust.

“Having a game to prepare for each week has given the boys a real incentive to work hard on their all round game.

“The staff, players and parents have all bought into the project, and we are making pleasing progress in our first season.

“We feel at the Trust that it is important that youth players from the surrounding areas have the opportunity to get involved with and represent their local professional club.”
