ILMINSTER Town continue their quest to reach the final of the Somerset Senior Cup for the first time when they visit Welton Rovers reserves tomorrow (1.45pm).
The Blues may have a poor record in the competition but they have been given a great chance to reach the quarter finals at least after being drawn against lower league opposition.
Welton have managed just three wins from 11 matches in Division 1(E) of the Errea County league and last Saturday lost 5-4.
Ilminster are not enjoying their best season in the Premier Division but should still be strong enough to reach the last eight.
Manager Darren Manley said: “They obviously like scoring goals and as the underdogs they can just go out and enjoy themselves whereas we’ll have to be a bit disciplined.
“But I’ve got a lot more confidence after the way we played on Saturday.
“Although we were beaten 4-0 by leaders Shirehampton I was chuffed by our performance.
“We only had the bare 11 players and the lads gave 100% and I couldn’t have asked for more.
“Jordan Turner, who was playing just his second game for us after signing from Misterton, was brilliant in midfield and is a great addition to the squad.
“Although we had six of our first team missing we still put up a good show so it shows we’ve got a decent squad together now.”
Johnny May remains injured for the trip to Welton but Manley should be able to recall Charlie Rutter, George Miles, Alistair Boyer and Ollie Hutchings, allowing himself a rare game on the bench.
